Hello, my name is Dixon, I’m 22 years old and live in the south-west of England. I am the L in the LGBT community but when referring to my sexuality I use the term gay. I’m so proud to be apart of the LGBTQ+ community. I came out when I was 15 years old. I’m now 22 and feel like I can be my true authentic self. LGBT visibility is super important. In my hometown when I was growing up there were not many gay people, so I would look for any lesbian representation I could find. When I was questioning my sexuality I found peace looking at someone who was out. That’s why I love running my small Instagram page, so that anyone who needs it can join the small community I have made.
I felt lost for a long time but I started to really connect with on-screen lesbian characters. I started watching Rose and Rosies (a lesbian couple) on YouTube when I was young and I remember watching them and thinking, I wanted what they have. Now 8 years later I sit and watch their videos with my girlfriend, we even went to see their live tour. LGBT visibility is so needed, without the access to the small LGBT circle that I had, I think it would have taken me a lot longer to come to terms with my sexuality.
