Hi, I’m Sara! I’m 24 and a somewhat new gay. I came out publicly about a year ago, and it was the best decision of my life.
I had known for a few years that I was gay, but I was so scared to come out because of religious beliefs.
Religious beliefs and lack of femme representation were the two biggest things that kept me from realizing who I really am. I kept pushing down the thought of liking girls because I thought I would be reprimanded. But also, I didn’t feel validated or like I could be gay because of the lack of femme lesbians in media.
So today, I try to advocate for Christian LGBTQ people and femme queer people because that’s what I needed when I was younger.
